Color Coded Kids App Lab is a 12-week course designed to teach students how to code their own video games.
Weeks 1-4 is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the computer programming language, JavaScript. The students will use a web-based application to solve coding challenges using block code format as well as standard written code. The students will demonstrate their problem-solving skills by presenting code outcomes in front of the class. Prizes for solving code challenges will be given throughout the course. There is an emphasis in this course, on not only education but also interactive fun!
Weeks 5-8 is an continuation of Level 1 knowledge. Students will learn the concepts of variables, operators, arrays, conditional statements, loops and functions. These concepts will be taught in a game format to help the students understand the basics of writing code in a fun and interactive way.
Weeks 9-12 introduces CCK’s video game platform. The students will learn how to code their own video game design including the appearance, rules, outcomes, speed and more. The kids will witness all of the concepts learned in Levels 1 and 2 while coding their own video game in this final step of becoming a Color Coded Kid CODEt!
